Microstructure and mechanical properties investigation of Ni35A–TiC composite coating deposited on AISI 1045 steel by laser cladding

In this research, the TiC–Ni35A composite coating was fabricated on AISI 1045 steel substrate by laser cladding process. The cross-sectional morphology, microstructure, microhardness, and wear resistance of coatings obtained under different energy densities (E) TiC powder ratios (PR) were analyzed. According to results, all had a reliable metallurgical bonding with substrate. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed that phases Ni TiC. average microhardness Ni35A-80wt.% reached up 75.1 HRC. minimum coefficient friction only about 30% form mainly adhesive when altering ratios, while also contained abrasion densities. ability decomposition re-nucleation significantly improved increase decrease ratios. resistance, because strengthening phase particles.
